Theater club preps for spring play

Janette Cervantes, middle school English teacher and advisor for theater club said the club is working toward putting on a spring play.

Cervantes shared that the play will cost $5 for students and $7 for adults.

Cervantes talked about how many students auditioned for the play.

“I believe we had about 20 students audition,” Cervantes said.

Cervantes said theater club is working hard during the week to prepare for the play.

“We are currently practicing three times a week. We work on specific scenes every day and also build and create our props,” Cervantes said.

Katharina Unger is  a foreign exchange student from Germany, and student at Imagine Prep who helps out with theater club.

Unger explained that she helps with the set and planning of the middle school play.

We are practicing one scene every week and on Friday it is prop building day. We are making signs, flower decorations and a lot more. We have theater twice a week, Mondays and Fridays,” Unger said.

She shared information on what the theme of the play is going to be.

“The play is called Furry Tails. It is about fairytale getting mixed up. The main character, Sir Mouse and his two companions have to find a human who knows all the fairy tail in order to help bring everything back in order,” Unger said.

The play will take place on Saturday, April 30 at 1 p.m. in the gym.
