On Jan. 15th, the first episode of Wandavision came out as many Marvel fans around the world started their journey through Marvel’s fourth phase. The MCU has already gone through three phases of the Marvel story. The first phase was an introduction to all the first six Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Hawkeye and the Hulk and a side character in Captain America, Bucky, he appears again later in the story and stays relevant. The second phase invited more new characters to the MCU including the Guardians of the Galaxy, Antman, Vision and Falcon, Scarlet Witch and Bucky, who was in the first Captain America movie and comes back even more involved in the plot. And then there’s the third phase where some characters get introduced and the biggest twist of the MCU happens, Infinity War. In the third phase they introduced the characters Spiderman, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Mantis and Wasp.

Emma Barela, high school English teacher, stated some of her opinions on the show. Barela discussed her favorite episode of the series so far.

My favorite episode so far is episode seven,¨ Barela said ¨It answered a lot of questions that I’ve had and I feel like I can wrap my head around who the bad guy is and how that might affect the rest of the show.¨

She said that she believes that the show is living up to the expectations that Marvel set up.

¨Wandavision is definitely living up to the expectations that the MCU set with the Infinity Saga,¨ Emma said. ¨I know it’s early in the newest phase, so there’s a lot of ambiguity and questions, but I trust that the MCU has a plan and everything will eventually tie together, just like the movies did.¨

Barela said she believes Wanda could become a threat in the Marvel Universe.

¨I genuinely think Wanda will become a threat to the Avengers,” Barela said.

Barela feels that the Marvel Universe is a long line of stories if you are new to the Marvel fandom then Wandavision isn’t a show you should use to integrate into the Universe.

¨That’s a tough one. I genuinely think having prior knowledge helps with being invested in the show, or else it’s just confusing and you don’t know much about the characters. If someone was trying to get into the MCU, I wouldn’t recommend Wandavision being the first thing they watch,” Barela said.
