Varsity Basketball season coming to an end
The basketball season is almost over, the varsity boys did very well this season with 16 games won and three lost.
They practice four days a week, and most of the players, like senior Mason Machado, say that practices were important, but can be tough at times, and sometimes not so fun.
“We usually worked on our sets for offense and defense then went to skill development. Even though times were fun, it’s all worth it,” Machado said.
Other players think that practices were intense and hard.
“Practices were intense more towards the beginning of the season, we had to get our plays and body back in shape to help us win our games,” freshman Aeden Calini said.
On the other hand, sophomore Brady Heuseveldt said that practice is all about what you make of it.
“Practices are what you make them to be, if you want to get better every practice will be hard, what you put in you will get back out,” Heuseveldt said.
Players shared their favorite memory of the season, they had really good memories.
“My favorite memory of the season is the game against Heritage Mesa when we were down three and I made a shot at the buzzer to send it into overtime,” Machado said.
Heuseveldt’s favorite memory was when he came back from injury.
“I would say my favorite memory of the season was definitely when I came back from injury and getting to play again. It felt great being able to run with everybody after being out so long,” Heuseveldt said.
Calini said that his favorite memory was when they beat Eduprize.
“My favorite memory was when we beat Eduprize, after the game and even at school the next day we were just so hyped and excited because we knew we just beat a very good team and knowing if we played like that every time we could be the best team in our division,” Calini said.
In addition to their favorite memories, the players also have favorite games they can’t stop thinking about.
“One of my favorite games so far was definitely our game against Heritage Mesa when we came back from being down when Mason hit a game tying three and we went into overtime and won,” Heuseveldt said.
Machado agreed with Heuseveldt.
“My favorite game of the season was either against Eduprize on the road or Heritage Mesa at home. I couldn’t choose one of the others, they were both fun but very intense,” Machado said.
Calini had a different game in mind.
“My favorite game was probably when we beat Eduprize,” Calini said. “It was a hard and well deserved game that we won, we played our hearts out. We were both undefeated so we knew this would be a tough game.”
