What really grinds my gears

They are like nails on a chalkboard, that sends a shiver down your spine. They make you cringe, but most importantly, they annoy. That’s right, we’re talking about pet peeves.
Pet peeves are something we all have. They can be just as stressful as real world problems. Studies have shown that pet peeves can cause anxiety and even health problems. Now it’s almost impossible to not have a pet peeve, but it is possible to defuse them right away when they’re still small and manageable.
Imagine the bell just rang and the hallway is crowded with people. You make your way through most of the people until you get slowed down by that one person. The one who would somehow find a way to lose a race to a turtle. Well that is senior Tyler Corella’s biggest pet peeve, people who walk slow.
“I hate it when people walk really really slow in front of me,” Corella said. “Mainly because I’m trying to hurry to my next class and they’re slowing me down.”
Students are supposed to be able to hear the teacher when they are trying to teach. However, there’s always that one person who goes out of their way to talk over whoever is talking. Junior Julie Hager said she does not like it when people speak when not spoken to.
“What really grinds my gears is probably whenever people talk out in class,” Hager said. “It’s very rude and annoying especially when other students are trying to listen to the lesson.”
As if class work wasn’t enough, there is still homework that needs to be assigned. To the copious amounts of it, or the worksheets that have four problems, but three parts to each of them and the expectation that all of this is done on top of jobs and extracurriculars, a lot of students will say they just can’t handle homework. Junior Bryce Higgins is one of the many people that can’t stand it.
“Homework, I just hate it so much,” Higgins said. “Because it’s too much work, and I wish it would just stay at school and not have to come home with me.”
Everybody has pet peeves. Whether it’s checking for grammatical errors in text messages or people chewing with their mouth open. We all have something that annoys us, but it is best if we don’t let them get to us.
