Fan of the Jaws Movie? You´ll Love ¨The Meg¨
September 25, 2018
The Meg is a science fiction action thriller that was released in August 2018. Its box office sales were $924 million and stared famous actors such as Jason Statham, Li Bingbing and Rainn Wilson. This movie is one of a kind and is a step up from the iconic Jaws. The Meg is about a Megalodon, the largest shark ever known to man, being accidentally discovered at the bottom of the Mariana Trench by a group of scientists. Overall, the movie focuses on what’d happen if humanity in modern times would have to face a deadly Megalodon.
The Meg’s box office sales worldwide were almost $500 million with Rotten Tomatoes rating it a 5 out of 10 and CinemaScore ranking it as a B+ from an A to F scale.
In general, it’s ratings have been average to good and its reached critical acclaim. In my opinion, the movie had great acting, a stable plot and superb computer generated imagery (CGI) effects. It’s the right movie to see if your favorite genre is action and thriller. I enjoyed this film because it had a relevant story line, was very realistic and had a happy ending.
One thing I would’ve changed about this movie is its choice in depicting the Megalodon’s size though – according to modern academic fields and fossil evidence, the Megalodon’s average size was bigger than the ones shown in this movie. I almost thought the sharks portrayed in the Meg were baby Megalodons, or at least a bit smaller than they were in reality.
All-in-all, I’d give this movie a rating of 7 out of 10.
