Black Panther Movie review

Marvel, after such a long wait, has finally released their superhero movie “Black Panther,”  Being the first movie Marvel released that starred an African American Superhero and important roles to people of color, it was definitely held to high expectations, and the movie did achieve them. The movie did a fantastic job with the action scenes, where there was new fight scenes that we hadn’t seen in previous Marvel films. The film took place in Wakanda, a fictional African country that is the most advanced technology based country in the Marvel universe. They also did a great job in choosing actors who would match their characters perfectly. I personally am not a huge Marvel fan, but I really enjoyed the job they did on this film both with the characters and the plot.

“Black Panther” had strong acting roles that were perfectly performed by actors such as Michael B. Jordan (Erik Killmonger),  Angela Bassett (Ramonda),  Danai Gurira (Okoye),  Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) and many more. The film was unique to other Marvel films, one, because they integrated an old meme (What are those?!) that gave many a laugh and also because it became a first of many films that had more of a diversity in characters and cast members. Not only did they have a wider range of characters of color, but they also gave females strong leading roles like Okoye a strong-hearted warrior that would give her life for her country. This is a reason why I liked the film as much as I did the diversity and seeing something new was captivating, for me.

The film integrated a short clip from the first Avengers movie where we see the death of Prince T’Challa’s father which leads T’Challa to be next in line to becoming king. In the film there are also rituals and traditions that take place to test if the next in line to the throne has what it takes to become king. Even though I was entertained by this movie, there were people who had different opinions on the film. Some liked it, some expected more out of it, and some just disliked it for whatever reason but if you don’t approve of your child seeing someone flip off someone else, or feel comfortable with some foul language, then this might not be a good film for your you. Besides that I would rank this movie a 4.5/5  not the greatest but a must see, and if you’re someone who loves comic books, or just likes Marvel, you’ll definitely enjoy watching this movie since its full of action and adventure.
