The way a restaurant is set up, can really be helpful factor in determining if it’s worth people’s time and money. Well, the setup at Yo Pauly’s New York Pizza Company in Scottsdale is not only welcoming, but is the perfect place to eat the pizza in all of Arizona.

As soon as you walk in the door, you feel like you are in the city. The walls have paintings of all different types of buildings and famous landmarks in NY and there are real street signs throughout the restaurant. I love everything about the design, it’s very unique and really emphasizes the fact that, this restaurant is making you New York style pizza.

Quick Facts: For those that don’t know what New York style pizza actually means, the style of pizza is more thin and crispy vs Chicago style, which is a deep dish style pizza. Growing up in New York I learned to love thin and crispy pizza, which is very hard to find in Arizona because most people are from places like Chicago, so they prefer the deep dish rather than the crispy.

We got to choose our own table, so once we sat down the waiter came over and gave us our menus. The menu has all the common food items that you find at a pizza place like salads, wings, and of course all the different types of pizzas. The one thing that really sets this place apart from other pizza joints is it has Garlic Knots. I will say that garlic knots are becoming more common in Arizona but I was very happy to find out that you get complementary knots when dining in from 4:30-9:00.

We ended up just ordering a medium cheese pizza and it took about 10-15 minutes before it came out. It took a few minutes before we could eat it because of how hot it was but, it was the best pizza I have ever had. The sauce is has almost a sweet flavor to it, which I have never tasted before but it complemented the rest of the pizza very nicely. The crust was just the right amount of crispy and the cheese melted with the sauce in perfect harmony. It was truly a work of art, a tomato and cheese masterpiece.

This place is so welcoming and so unique. Although it is a drive, I highly suggest that if you are ever in Scottsdale you take a pitstop at Yo Pauly’s New York Pizza Company, located at, 8880 E Vía Linda. Not only was the service amazing and the pizza delicious but, it was nice to see someone like my mom who grew up on this style of pizza, finally get to taste a little bit of home again.
