The buzzing of a bee is terrifying for most people to hear because the first thing you think of is their stinger. Living in Arizona, you most likely have a pool, which means you probably have bees that pay you a visit. These tiny insects probably aren’t new to you. But what you may not realize, when you’re swinging at them, is that they do so much for the earth, and things you consume and use daily!

Recently, two species of bees were added to the endangered species list. They are the hylaeus and the bumblebee. Both of these species help plants by carrying pollen from flowers while bumblebees also create honey.

As crazy as it may seem that these little critters do so much for us, it is a very serious issue. Companies like General Mills and Blue Diamond have gone the extra mile and changed their packaging and donating their profits to help bee conservation.

While buying these products may not have a direct effect from you, you can have your own part in all of this. It’s as simple as putting out some flowers outside that are bee friendly. Another great way to help, not only the bees but your environment too, is to not use pesticides and harsh chemicals in your garden and lawn.

The most important thing to remember is bees are living things too, and living in Arizona it gets hot, and bees get thirsty. Bees see pools as giant drinking fountains but once a bee’s wings are wet they can no longer fly. By placing small dishes and basins of water outside for bees to drink will make them happy little bugs.

Bees are amazing little creatures and without them we’d be missing out on so much. As of right now we can still bring back the bees, but if we continue our ways we will soon kill off all the bees. Lets not get there and all give back to Mother Nature and help save the bees.
