“The Invisible Man”

Allie McDonald, Staff Writer

When I was at the movies a few weeks ago, I saw the preview of The Invisible Man. My first reaction was “Oh sweet, another horror movie.” Until I saw it was about some guy who made himself invisible to taunt his ex. I was not intrigued by this movie; the title sounded like something straight out of a cheesy superhero comic. The preview itself didn’t necessarily seem cheesy, it was able to catch my attention in the beginning, but the idea of an invisible man just seemed kind of lame in my opinion.

I was most likely not going to see it, maybe rent it once it came out of theaters. I wanted to write a movie review for my journalism class and this was one of my options so I thought might as well, there was nothing else I haven’t seen already. I was so wrong about this movie. The first few minutes of the movie started off extremely suspenseful. I swear this movie almost gave me an anxiety attack, I had to put my soda down cause I felt my heart going crazy.

The acting in this movie was phenomenal! Elizabeth Moss did an amazing job, she played the role of Cecilia Kass very well. She portrayed a certain scene very well, her acting in that scene seemed very realistic, the scene overall was just very jaw dropping and unexpected. I wish I could give you more details, but I highly recommend you go and see The Invisible Man and experience this scene for yourself.

I held my breath throughout the whole movie, the suspense was killing me, I couldn’t predict what was going to happen next. I thought this film was going to be lame in all honesty, but I was definitely proven wrong. I’m glad I didn’t choose to skip out on his movie, it wasn’t your typical horror movie, definitely more of a thriller than a horror movie. This film was a trip; I was on edge throughout the movie.  I can see what the hype was all about, when buying tickets up front, the theater was already packed.

If you like horror and thrillers, this movie definitely won’t disappoint. I highly recommend this movie to any thriller lovers out there. I give this Movie a solid five stars.
