Go for gold
March 26, 2018
The Korean culture believes that there should be peace between animals and people. Lights and holograms projecting doves and athletes. John Lennon’s “Imagine” played by Korean performers. A look into the Korean culture: the white tiger, animals, nature, and a yin yang. The Parade of Nations. Pita Taufatofua, Tongan flag-bearer, becoming a social media sensation. South Korea and North Korea united under one flag. Drones creating the Olympic rings in the sky. Yuna Kim, South Korean figure skater, lighting the Olympic cauldron to start the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
This year’s Winter Olympics was full of unity, competition, and sports. The competition was fierce, every person wanted to bring home the gold. But only so many can earn a medal. Here are the 2018 PyeongChang events and medalists.
After a long two and a half weeks, the closing ceremony ended the thrilling Games. Centered around a peaceful and optimistic future, the ceremony included a performance by the Koreans, a light show of drones creating the mascot and a beating heart in the air, extinguishing the Olympic Flame, and lowering the Olympic flag for it to be raised at the next Winter Games in Beijing, China.
