Eye of a Champion

“AND IMAGINE PREP TAKES THE CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY!” is what all of this year’s Imagine Prep softball team members want to hear at the end of their season. They were only a hair away from taking it last year and they are back and ready to steal this season and take it all the way!
Last year, Imagine Prep’s softball team was almost undefeated with a very impressive record of 10 wins and two losses. Softball season is coming back around and new players have been added to the incredible and talented team. This team has members with different levels of experience when it comes to the competitive sport and they are all ready to work together to make their way up to the top!
Senior Hannah Millage is currently the captain of this year’s softball team and has been playing softball for 11 years, and thinks very positively about the new season.
“This year we are expected highly of, not only by the seniors on our team but also the staff in general,” Millage said. “So our goal definitely this year is to get into state and win it.”
Senior RoseMarie Feeley is a returning player on the team and shared the same expectations as Millage.
“I expect everyone to work as a team this year and try their absolute best,” Feeley said. “I really want us to win championships and go beyond.”
In addition to the positive attitudes that Millage and Feeley have presented, they both appear very enthusiastic for the new team members that they get to practice with on the team.
“I accept the new players; we as a team accept the new players,” Millage said. “We are excited for them so that they can gain the skill level that we are at and I’m excited to see them progress throughout the season.”
Sophomore Angelica Pelaez is one of the new additions to the softball team and has only been playing softball for two months. Despite the lack of experience she has, she expressed her desire in wanting to better herself in this sport.
“I’m actually kind of nervous because I know that I have a lot of learning but I know I can do it so I’m still really excited,” Pelaez said.
Senior Hallie Parke is also a new member on this year’s softball team and has been playing softball ever since the second grade. Parke explained that she isn’t intimidated for being a new player on the team because this isn’t the first time that this happened to her.
“It doesn’t really bother me at all,” Parke said. “I’ve been thrown into club teams and school teams without knowing anybody. So, I mean it’s just another opportunity to make friends and stuff like that.”
With all of the positive attitudes the team members are showing to each other and the determination they’re demonstrating to make it to state, it’s going to be no surprise to anyone if they get to take the championship trophy this year. As long as they continue to bring each other up with encouraging messages, put all their hearts and souls out onto the field, and stand right back up when they fall down, this softball team is definitely going to go all the way.
